Thomas has worked in the fields of Fashion Styling and Design and Image Consulting - with an expansion into food, wine and community development - since graduating from the National Art School.
Initially he worked full time in fashion advertising, developing concepts and creating campaigns for clients such as Oroton, Fiorelli, Schwarzkopf, L'Oreal, The Queen Victoria Building and Skygarden.
Thomas completed further training whilst living in New York, returning to private image consulting clients and freelance styling for magazines published by groups such as Australian Consolidated Press, Murdoch Magazines, John Fairfax Group, Howitz Group and Mason Stewart. Thomas also became Fashion Editor for Studio Men, In house Stylist for Black & White Magazine, In house Stylist for David Jones and a Lecturer at the National Art School, East Sydney.
He came to Koonwarra in 1996 to assist his sister who had taken over and redeveloped the Koonwarra Store. He has grown to love this Village and has shown great drive and initiative and played a big part in developing the Koonwarra we know today.
For a number of years he operated the Revamp shop in Koonwarra selling designer clothing, pre loved clothing and sustainable items as well as furniture.
He held the position of Manager of the Koonwarra Sustainable Communities Centre from August 2003 until the AGM in November 2007 but remained on the Board of Management as Chairperson. He is a member of the South Gippsland Shire Council Consultative Committee, a group that formulates proposals to put to Council, discusses the effects of Council initiatives and assists formulating policies. He is therefore able to keep environmental issues before the community and has been responsible for Council now realising it needs to develop a greater environmental policy.
Thomas was nominated in the 2007 South Gippsland Shire Council "Citizen of the Year" Award and although not successful it was a great honour.
Thomas has now his own Stylist Services and StoreHouse Business in Koonwarra situated in the main street next door to the Koonwarra Store.
Thomas' dog, Bilbao, was a familiar site in the Village until 24 January 2009. The whole Village was upset by his passing.
